powerful water

Yesterday five of us rented a paddle boat and another three a canoe. The see was jam packed with jellyfish, imma full!! Literally, there were more jellyfish than fish (so I presume =P ) It was pretty damn cool being out there laughing like total losers and eventually I jumped on to a canoe. The only time I've ever canoed was once in summer camp 2004, but that was with jean sitting behind me and all we had done was hit boats with our oars XD So it really was a site seeing me freaking out over any tiny wave coming just incase I capsized into 'jellyfish-land'.. especially when the spead boat circled us and all the waves where everywhere!! I freaked out big time hehe, you see the only way to over come a wave is by going into it head on.. But when there are waves coming from all directions- there's no way you can go into one head on without hitting another from your side =S Uwija, so I was stuck like a total loser and all I could do was close my eyes and say "Jesus, PLEASE save me!" out loud over and over and some how; I didn't capsize =D After all that fun ( =P no really it was fun) we went back into the bay, and just when I thought that I was safe, bob tells me to hold onto his rope, I obeyed, a small wave turned me around and once I was pulling a rope, plop- I flipped over! I must say it was terribly hilarious but I was terrified. I jumped onto the canoe (upsidown by the way) and couldn't move. I got stung in quite a few places and all but not that badly so it was just really funny. But now it occured to me that life is sort of like that. Being surrounded by all those waves and telling Jesus to save me is like being drowned by problems and telling God that He's in control. And when I did capsize, it was because I didn't let go of bob's rope, like when we don't let go of a problem or a bad habit. Soooo, all we really have to do is put God in charge and we'll be fine!

joking around with lyrics

For the last 5 or 6 days, tine and I have been singing songs to bob. Not just singing songs to him, but singing songs about him. Basically just getting his name and an adjective to describe him and placing them in songs that we already know. It started off at the beach when we has coming out of the water. Tine and I started to laugh at his total 'surfer dude' appearance and commented on the way that with a bit of working out he could be the number one model for O'neil etc. Anywhoooo, we started singing stuff like 'oh bob, i wana be with you' and stuff and brooks joined in so we all ended up laughing. but this thing kept going on and on saturday we changed the lyrics of the song 'our God is an awesome God' and stayed singing all afternoon. This really has no point when it comes to leading a Christian life apart from knowing Christian songs and replacing words to joke around with bob, but I realised how powerful lyrics really are. We sang that song the sunday before after d-group mass and last saturday during a short time of ministry and naturally I started smiling like a cheshire cat. If you sing it with complete meaning, you just feel so warm inside and personally i feel like I'm going to burst! 'Awesome'. Such a meaningful word and we use it in a song which many people just sing along to as a praise song. If only we could really understand how incredibly awesome God is.

Father's day

Today is father's day. Wow big thing! Really I just think that it's all comercial and another lame way to get people to believe that by giving a card or something to you're biological father on this 'special' day makes the world a better place or something. Maybe you do not have a good relationship with your father or he lives abroad or has passed away so today doesn't really leave you feeling great. But there is someone who we usually tend to forget on this day; our Father. You know, the dude who created everything, gave up His son for us, holds everything in his hands- God. I really think that we should take time out today to really tell God how much we love Him and appreciate what He's done for we. Because when all alse fails and everyone turns their backs on you, He's the one guy who won't. He's the 'role model' for all dads. What an earthly dad can't do He can, and this is even cooler- what an earthly dad can do He can do it soo many times better! Even if you think that your father is the greatest on earth, your Father in heaven outshines everything. So for all you guys who are slightly bummed about father's day, don't worry- your Father loves you =D

Our Lady

There's this park we go to sometimes in pembroke to get away from the swieqi/paceville area because it tends to get naqa boring hehe. There's a statue of Mary our Mother towards the back of it. Many people say she looks scary cos her eyes are half closed so at night it looks like she's blinking, but personally, I think she's beautiful. I guess that I have a thing for Our Lady because my mum used to pray to her a real lot and apparently she really prayed to Mary for a child, so I don't know, I just really love the idea of having Jesus' own mother as my own =) so the last time we passed by this statue, I said a prayer to Mary infront of her and I really felt great. I didn't really have anything troubling my mind, but I seriously felt as if a weight was lifted off my shoulders.. Hekk, it felt really good hehe. She's been known to apear to people and really help. Her heart was crushed when she saw what Jesus went through and she can really understand pain so we can really trust that she can help when we're in a situation with someone we love hurting us or being hurt.

carved on His palms

Today my sister was studying religion whilst I was baking one really buttery cake hehe. She was studying some question to do with the sabbath days of christians (sunday), jews (saturday) and muslims (friday). I asked her if she knew anything about the jews and muslims and obviously, she didn't. Uwija, I told her that the jews don't believe that Jesus is the messiah and the muslims follow the prophet mohammed and believe in allah. Then she asked why we all seem to have 'ALLA' on our palms. I told her that it doesn't mean anything and we don't actually have God writen on our palms in maltese. But I did tell her that God has our names written on His palms. Every single name of every single person that has died, is living and still has to be born. She was pretty damn impressed and is quite sure that God has really huge hands =P I also told her that if God was a normal everyday guy, He'd have her picture on His fridge. Then she asked if God does have a fridge so I told her that it was just an example and she said that she understood even though her expression showed nothing more than 'huh?'. Hopefully I didn't confuse her that much; I wouldn't want to get the blame if she failed a religion exam in grade 5 =P
